Description

Difficult day hike to the highest point in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, elevation 6200 feet. The trail is a 4WD road and multi-use, including horseback riding, vehicles, and mountain biking. For those without 4WD, the hike begins at Sheep Camp campground, around 1900 feet. The trail ascends for the next 5.5 miles, but the views from the top span from Mt. Shasta, Lassen Peak, to the Trinity Alps. Expect a glimpse of civilization when you reach the top and see a communication station and radio towers on this high point.
